Climate of Egypt

The climate in Egypt varies from moderate during nearly seven months (September, October, November, March, April, May, and June), hot during two months (July and August), cold for three months (December, January, and February). Egypt is in north-east Africa. It is bounded from the north by the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea from the east. The cities are located on the sea coast and have coastal weather. It is cold and humid with occasional rains during the Winter and dry hot during the Summer.

Climate in Egyptian Regions

In the Eastern and Western deserts, the weather is dry. Summer temperature is too high. It may reach up to 40 °C in the daytime. However, it is a moderate average of 20 – 15 °C in the winter.

In the Delta region, the climate differs during summer and winter. However, the highest temperature is always in Summer. The climate of central and southern parts of Egypt are hot in the Summer season: June, July, and August. The temperature increases when you go towards the south in Luxor and Aswan, especially in the Summertime.

Typically, winter climate is slightly different in Sinai as It is warm in the daytime and cold in the night time. However, summer weather is hot and dry. The only place in Egypt where the temperature is too low is Mount Sinai and the region of Saint Catherine. Sometimes, it reaches 0 °C in the Winter Season. Subsequently, snow will cover it. 

Best time to visit Egypt

The Period extends from November to March. In general, it is cold and humid. December till February are the colder months in Egypt. During winter, the most recommended places to visit are Luxor and Aswan. The weather there during that time is moderate, shiny, and warmer than in other cities in Egypt. Nevertheless, the south of Egypt gets colder at night. You can wear lighter clothes in the midday and warm clothes at night.

The period extends from June to September. Generally, the climate is hot and dry with a long daytime. The best places to visit in summer are coastal cities are El Ain El Sokhna, Alexandria, Marsa Matrouh, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Dahab, and Marsa Alam. You can bring light conservative clothes, sunglasses, and sunblock to protect you from the sun’s rays. It is the sea season for Egyptians. Everyone can enjoy all kinds of water fun, beaches, and sea resorts in the Red sea and the Mediterranean. Likewise, it is suitable to do all kinds of culture and sightseeing in the inner cities. However, you should take care of the sun and use your sunglasses and sun protector, especially in the south.

Spring season extends from March to May has in general moderate temperature with Sun shine and dry. Except for the first days of fast Wind (Khamaseen) which can bring sand specially from the desert and usually ends with rain. It is slightly warm with cool nights. Therefore, it is suitable to all kind of tours and activities, water sport, beaches diving etc. Moreover, it is very nice to make all cultural and classic tours. That’s all about climate of Egypt
