Most tourists and visitors to Egypt can obtain an entry visa at any of the major airports or ports of entry also. So, All foreigners arrives in Egypt should have a valid passport (with at least 6 months left before expiry) to get an entry visa.

Further, you can obtain an Egypt Entry Visa from Egyptian Diplomatic and Consular Missions abroad or in Egypt (for extension or renewal) from the visa department at the Travel Documents, Immigration and Nationality Administration (TDINA) at the Abbasia, El waili, El sarayat, Cairo 4391080.

There are 2 types of Egyptian Visas:

Entry Visa: Specifically, it requires any foreigner arriving in Egypt for purposes other than tourism, e.g. work, study, etc. To complete the residence procedure in Egypt you need a valid entry visa.

Tourist Visa: In brief, is usually valid for a period not exceeding three months and granted on either single or multiple entry basis overall.

Moreover, Egypt Entry Visa is valid only for travel within three months from the date of issue. It is only for One- month stay in Egypt, beginning on the date of arrival. However, you want to extend your stay during your visit. As you can do that from the ministry of interior affairs in Egypt after declaring the reasons for that and their acceptance for that reason.

Egyptian with foreign passports:

Any Egyptian citizen holds a foreign passport will be granted a courtesy visa after declaring proof for Egyptian nationality like Egyptian (passport, personal or family identification card or birth certificate). Likewise, the foreign wife to Egyptian husband will be granted a courtesy visa after declaring a proof for their marriage.

How to get your visa at the airport:

The visa is simply a stamp (like a mail or postage stamp). You have to buy it from the visa office, at the port of entry just before the immigration booth. You can’t really miss it!

Moreover, the visa will cost you around 15 USD. After buying it, you just stick in any empty page on your passport. Though, no need to worry. It is so easy! Once you have bought your visa, you have to stand in line to get your passport stamped by the immigration officer.

Useful Tips:

  • While you are buying your visa, use the opportunity to exchange your currency.  However, please note, only USD or Euros is accepted.
  • Visitors entering Egypt at the overland border post at Taba, to visit the Gulf of Aqaba coast and St. Catherine’s, can be exempt from requiring a visa and be granted a free residence permit, valid for fourteen days, to visit the area.
  • Those in possession of a residence permit, in Egypt, are not required to obtain an entry visa if they leave the country and return to it within the validity of their residence permit, within six months, or whichever period is less.

 If you can get an entry visa at airport or you’re required to get pre-arrival visa:

  •  Western European Citizens can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt.
  • Non Western European citizens are required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival.
  • Australian Citizens and New Zealand citizens can get a visa from Egypt consulates abroad or upon their arrival to any Egypt port of entry.
  • USA and Canadian citizens can get an entry visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt at any port of entry.
  • South American citizens can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt at any port of entry.
  • North Korea Citizen , South Korea, Republic of China, Japan, Singapore, Maldives, Nepal, and Brunei can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt:
  • Rest of Asian citizens are required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival.
  •  African Citizens are required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival.

Citizens exempted from getting a visa to Egypt:

Saudi Arabia Citizens , Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Yemen, Djibouti, Syria, Oman, Qatar, and Libya.

Citizens required being in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt:

Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Somalia, Sudan, Mauritania and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival.

Electronic Visa to Egypt

Since December 2017, the government of Egypt provided an Electronic line. Accordingly, all Incoming visitors and tourists to Egypt of only 49 countries can apply for an online visa without the need for embassy appointments after. Officially, the Egyptian Authorities launched its electronic visa services at the Cairo ICT Expo.

Further, It is permitted. Indeed, It is allowed for applicants from 41 countries, including the US, Canada. Many countries of Europe and Asia will be able to apply to get the Visa online and will receive their visa electronically by e-mail. It is very recommended to anyone who desire to apply for the E-visa to create an e-Visa application at least 7 days before his travel date.

According to the Official website, the e Visa for Egypt is a single-entry visa. Moreover, it is for a maximum stay of 30 days, and is compulsory” for travelers wishing to visit Egypt for tourism, business and transit purposes.

How to get the E-Visa.

Firstly, the Egyptian Government launched an Official Site for E-Visa for applications 

There are 4 easy steps to apply online to apply and get Egypt E-Visa:

1- Sign Up:

Be aware that the applicant must sign up and create an account, filling some personal necessary complementary information.

2- Sign in:

Applicants must sign in their account. Afterwards, you will sign into your account and get access to your pending application(s), or apply for a new application.

3- Applying and Payment

There is an Application Form to fill. Following, you will pay with a Credit Card or debit Card.

4- Application Processing

Afterwards, you complete make the payment, your application will be in process. When your Visa Applicant gets Approved, you will receive an email informing you with the current application status.

Who can Apply for an E- Visa to The Arab Republic of Egypt?
